Step-by-step preparation guide

To make your homemade birthday cake, follow the following steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C;
  2. Generously butter and flour a medium round baking pan;
  3. Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks in two different containers;
  4. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with the sugar using a mixer or electric mixer until smooth;
  5. Add the egg yolks little by little, beating as you go;
  1. Gradually add the vanilla extract to your mixture, and continue to beat until you obtain a lump-free result;
  2. In another bowl, sift the flour and baking powder, and use a spoon to gently incorporate them into the mixture;
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the yellow mixture, gradually alternating with the liquid milk. (Please start and finish with the dry elements), mix well to have a homogeneous consistency;
  4. Let sit for 10 minutes. In the meantime, use a mixer to beat the egg whites. Once they have become foamy, add a pinch of salt, beat again until you obtain a pretty bird’s beak;
  5. Gently integrate them into the preparation using a spatula using circular and enveloping movements from bottom to top (this is the secret to a soft and airy dough!);
  6. Pour the dough into the mold, flatten the surface and scrape the sides using a spatula;
  7. Bake your cake for 40 min;
  8. At the end of 40 minutes or simply until the toothpick placed in the center comes out clean, take out your magnificent birthday cake, leave to rest for about 15 minutes before unmolding it then put it on a rack;
  9. Once cooled, it is finally time to delight the taste buds… Start decorating and icing, giving free rein to your imagination!
